Household Goods and Personal Effects
Documents Required
- Copy of Passport
- Packing list
- Certificate of Change of Residence (CCR) issued by the City Hall / Police Station / Embassy in the country of departure
- Original Bill of Lading (OBL) – no Express or Telex Release / Air Waybill (AWB)
- Freight Invoice (if OBL is not rated)
- Cargo Tracking Note (to be done locally by agent)
- Original valued inventory in French, dated and signed by the shipper
- Invoice for electrical items less than 6 months old
- Resident Permit / Work Permit / Letter of Employment
- Certificate of Filiation (document from the shipper giving details on his parents, name , date of birth and address)
- Tax Payer Identification number in Ivory Coast
- Certificate of Free Entry (from Customs)
Specific Information
- OBL must show net weight of cargo.
- Extra charges of EUR 100 apply for containers sent on Express or Telex Release for the tax release.
- Shipper must register with the Internal Revenue Services, which takes approximately 3 days.
- Tax Payer Identification numbers are not required for Diplomats.
- Electrical items will be considered new if invoices are not provided.
- Import duties and taxes apply to new items at approximately 44% cost, insurance and freight (CIF) value.
- Import taxes apply on used items at approximately 2.5% CIF value.
Motor Vehicles
Documents Required
- Original Registration Card
- OBL (showing net weight of car and chassis number)
- Non-sale Certificate
- Change of Residence Certificate / Letter of Transfer
- Copy of Passport
- Purchase Invoice
Specific Information
- Duties of approximately 53% of value are assessed by Customs.
- Vehicles older than 7 years cannot be imported.
- Vehicles cannot be sent in the same container as the household goods and personal effects.
- Shippers must pay a vehicle registration fee of approximately EUR 690 per vehicle.
Pets
Documents Required
- Vaccination Record
- Veterinary Health Certificate

- Documents must be issued from country of origin prior to entry
Restricted/Dutiable Items
- Firearms and ammunition (authorization from the territorial administration is required)
- The following items may qualify for free import within the limits indicated:
- Cigarettes (200), cigars (25), cigarillos (100)
- Tobacco (250 g)
- Wine and spirits (1 bottle)
- Perfume (250 ml)
- Video cameras and cassettes can be imported for personal use and must be declared at Customs upon entry; a deposit may be required.

Consignment Instructions
Recommended: Contact the destination agent to ensure all requirements have been met prior to import, especially for differences regarding air / sea shipments.
